Rogue Primary School is Open!

Central Point School District’s newly opened Rogue Primary School has opened for students and staff!

The construction of Central Point’s newest elementary school was made possible thanks to the community’s passage of the 2019 school bond. The District began the conversion of the former Central Point Hospital building into a 62,000 square foot elementary school in 2020. Now open for RPS students and staff, the state-of-the-art campus is home to approximately 75 students.

The design and construction was guided by the school’s focus on play-based educational models within primary grade levels (kindergarten through 2nd grade). The school can accommodate more than 300 students with infrastructure to increase the school’s capacity to 550 in future years. The building features 12 classrooms, a gymnasium/multi-use space, full kitchen, cafeteria space, administrative and support staff offices, common areas, and outdoor educational spaces; including a courtyard complete with slide, water pump, and landscaping.

“The Central Point School District is thrilled to celebrate our first new school since Scenic Middle School opened in 1967,” shared Cathy Salmon, Central Point School District Board Chair. “Rogue Primary School’s model of play-based and hands-on instruction is especially exciting for our youngest learners. Thank you to our voters, families, and staff for their patience and support in making this new school a reality.”
