Overview

Project Summary: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Site Upgrades

Campus buildings will receive new heating, ventilation and air condition (HVAC) systems, electrical systems, and plumbing. New HVAC systems will create a comfortable learning environment with state-of-the-art indoor air quality by using appropriate filters and code-mandated air changes. A new digital HVAC control system will efficiently “warm up” buildings to a desired temperature on cold morning prior to staff and students arriving, and will “turn down” the heat when it knows or senses the buildings are empty. These controls will create thermally comfortable spaces and allow district maintenance staff to control mechanical systems remotely if necessary.

School-wide security systems will be upgraded or installed to include new fencing around the core of the school buildings, security cameras, an intercom system, classroom clocks and fire alarm panels. New exterior and classroom door hardware will have already been installed under another project.

Project Updates

Winter 2024 Updates:

Phase 5 of work is now complete. This project finished a month early and all teachers and students have moved back into their spaces.
The new classroom wing is fully re-established and Scenic is now a fully operational school.
All 2019 Bond work is complete!

Summer HVAC Updates:

The NEW HVAC units at Scenic Middle School were installed this summer by the team at S&B James. This was an impressive installation on the roof of the school. We look forward to cooler, cleaner air this school year thanks to the the 2019 Bond!

Many updates are happening at Scenic Middle School this summer!

SMS New Building Update:

The new 8,000 sq. ft. custom modular building is ready in time for students this new school year. The building will allow the school to relocate classrooms during the construction phases and will be used for 6 additional classrooms once the work is completed.

SMS Parking Lot Upgrades:

The SMS Parking lot is complete! The new Bus Loop at the back of the school is on track for completion by the end of September.

Work began at the beginning of Summer 2022 to upgrade the SMS parking lot and bus loop. The parking lot is currently being renovated to increase parking capacity with new, improved traffic flow. Bus traffic will be rerouted at the back of the school with parent and visitor traffic remaining in front.

New Modular Building Arrives!

The District will begin mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades at Scenic Middle School this fall. The new upgrades will allow for increased cooling and air quality throughout the school. To prepare for the upcoming remodel of the school and accommodate future growth, the District is adding a new, permanent building at Scenic Middle School.
